A small Aeonium that produces many rosettes around 2–3 cm in size. In autumn, as it wakes up, it's a lively light green, but true to its name, as winter sets in, dot patterns appear on the leaves that make it look sprinkled with chocolate chips. Some have pointed out that this is another name for A. spathulatum .

! Late December. The chocolate chip-like pattern has started to appear. The spotted areas make the leaves look thinner.
! April. The color is starting to develop. The initially translucent spots are beginning to show a reddish-brown tint, giving them a more chocolate-chip-like vibe.
! Same plant in mid-June. Stress from heat and dryness has deeply colored it, and as it gets ready to go dormant, the rosettes have curled up into neat little balls.
! Late August. The leaves have dropped off, leaving just the chocolate chip dots. The plant is now dormant.
A small Aeonium forming many rosettes about 2–3 cm in diameter. Its name comes from the dot patterns that emerge on the leaves resembling chocolate chips, but this only happens when it colors up in cooler seasons. The rest of the time, it's simply a solid shade of light green. Maybe that's why it's found in shops only during a limited season.
