As the name Hardy Agave suggests, this Agave is known for its cold tolerance (but don't let your guard down—some reports warn it can still suffer damage below freezing). It's a highland plant native to the plateaus of northern Mexico, at elevations of 2,300 to 3,300 meters (that's about the same height as Mt. Fuji!). The type with large, deeply notched, and intensely red-colored teeth is widely known and distributed under the nickname A. gentryi 'Jaws' .
