Among the popular species that represent Astrophytum, the 'Kabuto' is especially famous for its dazzling white coloration, inspiring top-tier names like 'Super Kabuto' and 'Miracle Kabuto.' But in direct contrast to these values, there is the unique 'Ruri Kabuto'—a variation with a green body completely lacking the usual white spots. Its deep green skin, simply accented by neat rows of white tufts, gives off a pure, high-contrast look that matches the name 'Ruri'—a reference to the deep blue gemstone, lapis lazuli—and exudes a distinct, captivating beauty. Interestingly, even within the Ruri Kabuto, there are naturally occurring forms and those carefully bred by crossing with other species to intentionally eliminate the white spots. As a result, you'll find a wide range of Ruri Kabuto forms, varying in the number and size of white spots, as well as the shade of green.
