This Gasteria species features slender leaves with sharp edges, adorned with fine dot patterns, and grows in a rosette rather than alternating along a stem. The leaves are a bright green in summer, deepening to a dark, almost black-brown in winter. Native to the Kouga Dam region in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, it hides quietly in rock crevices, its mottled pattern serving as camouflage (with neighbors like C. rupestris ssp.marnieriana and P. afra var.variegata ). The summers there are hot, but winters are mild (making it possible to overwinter outdoors here). Water sparingly during winter, but in other seasons, this plant appreciates regular moisture. It closely resembles "Gasteria batesiana G. batesiana ".
