Pilea peperomioides, known as the "Pilea that resembles a Peperomia (Peperomia sp.)," is a charming plant with perfectly round leaves. Native to China, it’s also often called the "Chinese Money Plant." While its leaves are slightly succulent, they’re thin, and the plant itself stays at a compact, table-friendly size of about 30 cm—making it a favorite as a decorative houseplant. Unlike most succulents, this subtropical species actually prefers warm, humid conditions and takes quite a liking to moisture. Give it plenty of water except in winter!
By the way, the name "Peperomia" itself literally means "similar to pepper,)” so when you put it all together, "peperomioides" means it's "something that resembles something similar to pepper"—which is pretty amusing!
Although Pilea peperomioides is popular, it seems to be available only in limited seasons. If you spot one, grab it while you can!
