People have said it looks like a durian, a bitter melon... or even "Pigmon"! But if you ask me, I want to believe it's a strawberry! (Or at least a Christmas-colored pinecone)—that's how cute this Adromischus is. Both 'marianae' and 'herrei' are known for their "remarkable individual variation," and while 'herrei' is especially recognizable for this spiky texture, you'll find plenty of shapes and colors on the market. The one in the photo has turned a bright, vibrant red in its early spring coloration, but in summer it can take on shades more like a bitter melon, and apparently, there are even varieties that stay green all year round.
