A hybrid of Queen Victoria Agave A. victoriae-reginae and Agave palmeri A. palmeri . It looks extremely similar to Blue Glow A. 'Blue Glow' and Blue Ember A. 'Blue Ember' , but perhaps the leaves here are thicker and shorter, with a stronger red margin. As the plant grows larger, the leaves become slender and begin to closely resemble Blue Emperor A. 'Blue Emperor' , just like Agave macroacantha. There are some cultivar-like notations referring to Agave pelona A. pelona , but they appear to be unrelated. According to some accounts, the form circulated in the early days and the ones available now look quite different, so we are still investigating which description fits which version, including the explanations above...
