A caudex-forming plant with a monster-like appearance—think "snow-white Medusa with centipede hair." Atop its 10–15 cm pale, smooth tuber, it stretches out curious, dragon-like leaves (well, technically, stems) to the sides. In its native habitat, however, this chunky caudex is buried completely underground, so the leaves grow low, crawling right along the ground—a quiet, unflashy existence. Although I've just called it a "Medusa" or a "monster," you might be surprised: its creamy, porcelain skin gives off a surprisingly refreshing vibe, and before long you'll find it oddly endearing.
