Known as "Sotetsu Kirin" (meaning Cycad Giraffe) because it closely resembles a cycad with its dark, rugged body topped by a burst of leaves, this euphorbia is also called "Tekkoumaru." It originates from the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It grows by sending roots into shallow soil among rocks in open rocky areas, giving the impression it's tough against heat and strong sunlight—but it's best to provide light shade during the summer. It doesn't tolerate cold well, so be sure to keep it indoors during winter.
