This is a mutant of M. geometrizans , which is usually known for its sleek, straight-lined ribs, but here they form soft, bouncy curves that point upward—giving it a very alluring, almost "sexy" appearance (and yes, it does have nicknames inspiring that image!). This variety originated from seeds grown in Japan, and abroad it's also known as "Fukurokuryuzinboku." The "Fukuroku" part of its name probably comes from L. schottii f.monstrosus —or so I like to imagine. Totally unrelated, but I've also linked the monstrose form of Macrogonus T. macrogonus f.monstrosus . Totally unrelated, but still worth a look!
