The giant Pachypodium can grow to over 6 meters tall. Unlike Pachypodium gracilius, which has a swollen caudex and thin branches, this species has an overall uniform thickness—its base may be a bit thicker, but the trunk is generally even, with few branches. At the top of the trunk, it spreads out large leaves, giving it a palm tree–like appearance from a distance. However, the trunk is densely covered in long, impressive spines.

@browntom1234 @cookiesinheaven Yours looks like pachypodium lamerei, Madagascar palm? there were some with the thorny plants in the indoor section in the Egyptian botanical garden. Very alien.
@justindwtn Nice Pachypodium Lamerei Caudex plants are my life.
Madagascar Palm (Pachypodium lamerei) is long-lived and easy to please. This semi-succulent plant requires very little water, even less in the winter. Just put it the full sun of a west- or south-facing window and it needs little attention to thrive. #madagascarpalm https://t.co/j8pXyKwCFx
@philomene251 @houseplanthour I have a Pachypodium lamerei and it will basically turn into that but with slightly thinner leaves I think. #HouseplantHour
