A representative cultivar of Adenium often called the "Desert Rose," which, as its name suggests, is found from Saudi Arabia to Yemen. Compared to A. obesum , it has a stouter and larger caudex, thicker leaves, and fewer flowers... Overall, it's considered more of a trunk-appreciation plant than one grown for its blooms. However, in reality, the differences are subtle, and they're so similar that, academically, they're considered the same species as Obesum. For more about Adenium, please see the dedicated page. By the way, at the Osaka Expo, the Saudi Arabia Pavilion planted "crape myrtle." I can't help but wonder if they chose it as a symbolic nod to Adenium.
