Although it’s a variety now found in North America, it was actually bred in Japan and later re-imported. Some references suggest this is ${ A. 'Meriko-Nisiki' } (and it really does look just like it), but according to sources in the U.S. (such as San Marcos Growers, who named Cream Spike), there’s no solid evidence to confirm that. Some suggest it’s a hybrid of @ and @, or maybe a cultivar of @ or @, but these remain educated guesses. Please note: it tends to be susceptible to scale insects, so extra care is advised.
