A Japanese-developed horticultural variety of A. potatorum . Compared to the base species, its spines are larger and turn a more vivid red, and the leaf "waist" is more pinched, creating a distinctive arrowhead shape (at least, that's the current idea—still confirming more precise differences...). The form with a broad white margin is A. potatorum 'Kisshoukan Nishiki' , which is seen even more often—maybe because it's more eye-catching. Though the names are similar, A. parryi var.huachucensis is actually a different species.
