If you spot a plant in the agave section with sharply upright, slender, and tough-looking leaves, it’s probably this one—Agave xylonacantha. Its most distinctive feature is its long, slender, and rigid leaves, which curl lightly outward and have a saw-like appearance: the leaf edges are lined entirely with thin blades and dotted here and there with small teeth. The bluish-gray color with vertical stripes adds even more charm. In fact, it might remind you more of a Dyckia than a typical agave.
