The wavy, curling leaves are the signature charm of Tillandsia streptophylla. The name “streptophylla” literally means “twisted leaves.” As it grows, it can become as large as both hands put together, eventually forming a ball with its curled, looping foliage. The flowers are quite striking, with vivid pink to purple centers blending out into green on the outer edges. Speaking of twisty forms, T. caput-medusae is also well known, but its leaves are more rounded and pointed, giving it a very different overall look.
