Among the many Agave species that spread their leaves wide, this cool specimen, reminiscent of the Burj Dubai with its slender, upright leaves, truly stands out. It is a medium-sized agave reaching up to about 50cm, and as it matures to that size, its leaves spread more and give it a nearly spherical shape. This rare species is native to southern California and Baja California and has been recently listed as threatened with extinction by the California Native Plant Society (though it is not on the Red List). There is also a larger variety called goldmaniana @ , which can grow up to about 80cm.
