This stylish and striking Aloe features a base color that shifts from deep dark green to reddish-brown, with bold white brushstroke patterns on the tops of its leaves, and dense vertical stripes on the undersides. It really makes a cool statement! In autumn, it produces rich yellow and orange flowers. Native to South Africa’s Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces, the name "fosteri" was given by Neville S. Pillans (who also named Aloe pillansii) in honor of aloe enthusiast Cyril Foster. It’s a personal favorite of mine, but despite its charm, it's still relatively unknown, so young plants are often sold off cheaply. If you spot one, definitely grab it while you can.
