Among the Pachypodiums that usually bloom with yellow or white flowers, these are considered special because they produce red blossoms. There are two main forms: the standard type, @ , which has sharp, pointed leaves and grows tall; and the smaller variety, @ , which features rounded leaves. In terms of pricing, @ is by far the more expensive of the two. The scientific name is derived from Richard Baron, a 19th-century botanist and missionary in Madagascar. You might also see it written as @ (such as in the Catalog Of Life), with just one "i" in the spelling.
