A charming Euphorbia with a caudex (swollen base) that sends out fuzzy-looking branches about 10cm long. Its native home is the lower elevations on the western side of South Africa. The species name fortuita comes from the English word "fortune," and means something like "by chance" or "a lucky encounter." It closely resembles Soetvingerpol E. esculenta and E. colliculina .
